First Financial Services Courses Open
Open Polytechnic now has eight of the unit standards in the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5) available for enrolment.
Courses now available
- US24755 Demonstrate knowledge of the industry and apply professional practice in a financial services organisation.
- US25642 Demonstrate understanding of relationships between economic environments, financial markets and their participants.
- US25643 Demonstrate understanding of the stages of financial advice and the products used by financial advisers.
- US25644 Demonstrate understanding of insurance structures, principles, products, and risk principles used by financial advisers.
- US25645 Demonstrate knowledge of the life insurance market and life insurance.
- US25647 Demonstrate understanding of the fire and general insurance market and fire and general insurance.
- US26286 Demonstrate knowledge of the mortgage industry, lending principles, home loan products and apply the application process.
- US26287 Demonstrate understanding of the residential property market and residential property lending as a financial adviser.
Of the eight unit standards available three make up Standard Set A (Core Knowledge), and five are from Standard Set E (Specialist Standards).
Both unit standards 25644 and 26286 are prerequisites. These must be successfully completed before enrolling in additional unit standards within their respective sets.

Enrolment
For your first enrolment please print out and complete the Financial Services Application for Enrolment form and accompanying Financial Services Enrolment Guide. Your enrolment form cannot be submitted online, so needs to be posted to Open Polytechnic, Private Bag 31914,Lower Hutt 5040, along with your payment. If you do not have anactive NSI record, you will also need to provide verified proof of your citizenship - please refer to the guide to enrolment for further information.
If you are wanting to re-enrol in additional courses call us on freephone 0508 0000 88 to register, or if you prefer, download and print the Financial Services Application for Re-enrolment form.
If you choose to study the course material and then do the assessments you will have 32 weeks from the date your enrolment is confirmed to complete your course. If you want to do the assessment only option you will have 13 weeks from the date your enrolment is confirmed.

An annual, non-refundable, $50 administration fee, will also need to be paid, if this is your first enrolment with us in 2010. These courses are full fee courses and therefore are not eligible for a student loan. All prices include GST.
Note: Assessments for the Assessment Only option can be attempted up to three times. After three fail results students need to re-enrol in the unit standard and we recommend students enrol in the Learning Material and Assessment option.
We estimate the total cost to study with us will be around $1,995.00, but this is subject to change.
Assessment for the proposed capstone standards (Standards Sets B and C) will only be provided by ETITO or a delegated assessment organisation (DAO). Assessment for these unit standards will incur an additional fee. See ETITO’s website for details. Open Polytechnic will be offering learning material for these courses.
